UFlex Limited, India’s largest multinational flexible packaging and solutions company, introduced F-HSS, a high-seal-strength, biaxially oriented transparent polyester film, at PLASTINDIA 2026. Designed to support the shift toward recyclable packaging and sustainability goals, F-HSS enables mono-material PET structures while delivering high seal strength, clarity, and reliable machinability for demanding packaging applications.

F-HSS is a co-extruded PET film featuring a specially engineered copolymer-based sealant layer. The film is heat-sealable on one side and delivers a seal strength of more than 1.5 kg/inch, while the opposite side is available in either corona-treated or untreated form. This structure allows excellent sealing compatibility with itself as well as APET, RPET, CPET, and PVDC, making it suitable for a wide range of packaging applications requiring strong and consistent seals.

The film offers high clarity and transparency, along with superior handling and machinability across converting operations. It is suitable for both tack-seal and lock-seal applications and supports PET-to-PET laminate structures, helping replace mixed-material laminates. Key end-use applications include lidding for APET, RPET, and CPET trays; robust pouches for food products; and mono-material packaging formats for dry snacks such as pasta, makhana, chakli, and similar products, ensuring freshness and leak prevention.

F-HSS is an FDA-compliant, in-house-developed polyester film manufactured using UFlex’s specialized sealant technology. The film runs efficiently on offline coating, printing, lamination, and pouch-making lines and is engineered to meet the performance requirements of food, beverage, and FMCG packaging applications that demand durability and consistent seal strength.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Ashish Saxena, Joint President – Packaging Films Business, UFlex Limited, said, “F-HSS reflects our continued focus on developing material solutions that combine performance with sustainability. The innovation enables mono-material PET structures with high seal strength and smooth machinability, supporting recyclability goals while ensuring efficient operations and reliable product protection.”

By laminating printable PET with F-HSS as the sealant layer, converters can develop cost-effective, fully recyclable mono-material PET packaging solutions that support circular economy objectives while meeting modern packaging performance requirements.
