The Indian printing and packaging industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by automation, technology adoption, and the need for global competitiveness. In an interaction, Vikram Fotedar, PackOne Solution LLP, shared insights into the company’s recent developments, technology partnerships, market outlook, and vision for the future of the Indian packaging industry.
Expanding Technology Solutions for Indian Machine Builders
“India is an emerging economy, and there are many machine builders who are preparing to export and take their brands to the next level,” explains Vikram Fotedar.
Through PackOne Solution, the company focuses on supplying critical machine components that help Indian manufacturers improve quality, performance, and reliability. The company has developed a strong network of technology partners across Europe, the US, and Japan to bring specialised solutions to the Indian market.
“We have a very impressive lineup of technology partners from Europe, the US, and Japan, who deliver critical components that can help elevate the quality of machinery processes in India.”
One of the key partnerships is with Bonato, Italy, a specialist in static elimination technology. While static control is considered a mature application, PackOne has identified new opportunities in the In-Mould Labelling (IML) robotics sector, where static charging solutions play an important role.
“We have found a niche in the IML robotics industry and are now supporting IML charging applications. We are also working extensively on static charging solutions for film applications, including tapeless winding,” he added.
The company has also introduced chain clips from Shinko, Japan, specifically for the oriented films industry, along with advanced web cleaning solutions for critical applications, particularly in the optical film segment.
“With India preparing to become a global electronics manufacturing hub under the China-plus-one strategy, these technologies will become increasingly important,” said Fotedar.
Supporting Industrial Growth Through Advanced Packaging Solutions
Another major initiative is through Fotedar India, where the company continues to expand its portfolio of specialised machinery solutions.
“We have been working with Zhau Tai and HP for several years, and recently partnered with Güntner Machinery,” said Fotedar.
The company has already installed solutions in India for solid flakes and bulk liquids, with upcoming installations at companies serving the FIBC liner bag industry.
“These solutions are aligned with India’s strategic focus on increasing exports in industrial chemicals and pharmaceutical APIs,” he explained.
PackOne has also partnered with Rodolfo Comerio, Italy, a global technology provider offering solutions for flooring, wallpaper, décor, packaging, rigid PVC, and pharmaceutical blister applications.
Creating a Technology Experience and Training Centre
A significant milestone for PackOne has been the transformation of its Ahmedabad warehouse into a technology experience centre.
“Five years ago, we took a warehouse in Ahmedabad and transformed it into an experience centre. We display all our components on a machine where customers can understand their applications,” said Fotedar.
“The objective is to develop skills and upscale workers in the printing and packaging industry. Training and knowledge development will become increasingly important as automation grows.”
The company now plans to expand this facility into a training and certification hub for operators and professionals in the printing and packaging industry.
Launching Priority Pack Services for Industry Support
To strengthen after-sales support and technical services, PackOne has launched a new company — Priority Pack Services.
“The purpose is simple — to provide service support to our suppliers and other companies in the printing and packaging industry,” explained Fotedar.
The Ahmedabad centre currently houses an advanced slitter rewinder system equipped with multiple technologies from global suppliers.
The demonstration machine includes:
- Laser scoring system from MLT, Germany
- Punching system from Punch and Pin, Italy
- Automatic defect detection system from DAC, Japan
- Anti-static system from Bonato
- Spreader rollers from Mink
- Unwind chucks and rewind shafts from SVECO
- Brake systems from Renova
Strong Confidence in Indian Market Growth
Despite global uncertainties, PackOne remains highly optimistic about India’s growth potential.
“We are reinvesting everything we earn back into the business. We have been doing this for the last 10 years, continuously investing in strengthening our capabilities.”
The company witnessed its best-ever performance last year, and according to him, the current year is expected to surpass those achievements.
“India has performed extremely well for us. The Middle East market has been slightly challenging, but we expect good recovery once global conditions improve. We are also doing very well in East Africa and other African markets,” he added.
India Cannot Remain an Orthodox Market
Discussing technology adoption in India, Fotedar believes the industry is moving rapidly towards modernisation.
“India is no longer the orthodox market. We cannot afford to remain an orthodox market if we want to take a leadership role as a leading economy.”

According to him, automation, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce growth are changing consumer expectations.
“With the push of AI, technology, and e-commerce, consumer expectations are changing. Automation is essential, and traditional thinking will not work anymore.”
He believes converters and printers in India are increasingly ready to adopt new technologies.
“There are companies that are already implementing advanced solutions, and there are others who are still evaluating. But eventually, everyone will have to recognise the need to modernise to stay competitive,” said Fotedar.
Positive Outlook for HIPLEX and Hyderabad Market
Sharing his experience at HIPLEX, Fotedar said the exhibition has been highly encouraging.
“The show has been very good. We have participated here earlier as well, and we see Hyderabad as a very strategic location due to its connectivity with North, South, East, and West India,” he said.
According to him, Hyderabad is emerging as an important industrial hub, and PackOne is strengthening its presence in the city.
“Hyderabad is an industrial hub, and we are very upbeat about the market. We are building up our office in Hyderabad as well.”
