Vetaphone provides advanced corona and plasma surface treatment equipment, helping businesses in the print and packaging industry achieve optimal adhesion and improved production efficiency. In India, to strengthen its presence, the company has tied up with Keyways Sales Enterprises as its local partner, ensuring strong sales and service support across the market.
To gain deeper insights into the company’s business strategy and growth plans, Labels Flexibles and More spoke with Holger Selenka of Vetaphone.
Q: Can you tell us about Ventaphone and its legacy in corona treatment?
Vetaphone is the inventor of corona treatment technology, developed more than 70 years ago. Mr. Werner Eisby was the pioneer of corona treatment and laid the foundation for what has become a critical process in the converting industry worldwide.
Vetaphone is a family-owned company based in Denmark. We serve the entire converting industry—from films and flexible packaging to narrow web and wide web applications. Globally, our main focus is on flat film applications, while in India our business is primarily concentrated on narrow web and wide web segments.
We are working closely with Keyway as our partner in India. Our key focus is on premium customers, particularly leading OEMs in the narrow web and wide web industry. Over the past few years, we have steadily strengthened our presence and position in the Indian market.
Q: How do you see the Indian market evolving?
The Indian market is one of the largest and fastest-growing markets in the world. It is expanding rapidly and offers strong long-term growth potential. We believe the opportunity in India is tremendous, and in the near future, it could become one of our most important markets globally.
Q: What has been your recent progress in India?
In the last three months, we have successfully sold five corona treatment systems in India. These include:
- Two systems supplied to DPH
- A system each is supplied to UV Graphics, Webtech, and MultiTech.
These are major Indian OEMs who recognize the value of advanced corona treatment technology. We are also working very closely with UV Graphics and other key industry players.
We have been present in the Indian market for more than 20 years and have installed over 100 systems across the country. In fact, approximately 95% of European OEM machines entering India—particularly in the narrow-web segment—are equipped with Vetaphone systems.
Q: What is the USP of Vetaphone’s corona treatment systems?
Our key strengths include:
- High performance and consistent treatment levels
- High and stable dyeing values on substrates
- User-friendly operation
- Long service life and durability
These features make Vetaphone systems highly reliable for demanding converting applications and ensure consistent print and lamination quality.
Q: Do you offer retrofit solutions?
Yes, retrofit solutions are an important part of our business. Many customers approach us to upgrade their existing systems to achieve better corona treatment, especially for substrates such as PET films and other flexible packaging materials where effective surface treatment is critical.
India offers significant opportunities not only in converting but also in blown film applications. Retrofit projects represent a strong business opportunity, and we see substantial demand in this segment.
Q: Are you participating in industry exhibitions in India?
Yes, we will be participating in LOUPE India (formerly Labelexpo India) this September. We will have a booth and will be showcasing our latest corona treatment technologies to the Indian market.
