Aiming for scaling up business and press installations

A wholly-owned Indian subsidiary of Manroland Sheetfed GmbH, a leading German manufacturer of sheetfed offset presses and part of the UK-based Langley Holdings, Manroland Sheetfed India has relocated its Delhi office to new premises with an aim to escalate business in all verticals. The company has gradually been gaining new grounds in press installations and others over the last few years in India.

Mr Mirko Kern, CEO of Manroland Sheetfed GmbH, on his recent trip to India, participated in the grand opening of the new office of Manroland Sheetfed India in Delhi, accompanied by Mr Deepak Walia, Managing Director of Manroland Sheetfed India Pvt Ltd, and the company’s whole team comprising engineers and other staff members. “It has become my routine task to visit India biannually, which means at an interval of six months every year,” tells Mr Kern, adding, “It feels good to be connected closely with our Indian clients on my every visit to the country.”

Mr Deepak Walia, Managing Director of Manroland Sheetfed India Pvt Ltd, mentions, “As we have unveiled our new office in Delhi, it signifies a bold new step for us to reflect our renewed vision and commitment to an overall business growth in a new chapter.” The company’s new office is situated in a new building at Dwarka Sector-17 in the city with a more spacious facility where customers, partners, and peers can come down for meetings and discussions in a much-needed space and infrastructure.

According to Mr Kern, India is an important and a growing market which Manroland Sheetfed GmbH is now focusing on for further business expansion as part of its long-term global vision for growth. “We have set a long-term global vision for producing more advanced presses with upgraded features and capabilities for the packaging and commercial sectors. Our further plan is to bring the whole new range of products to India which is a vibrant market where our presses are gaining increasing demands,” he adds.

Last three years have witnessed a good number of installations of brand new Evolution Series presses and a handful of pre-owned but highly configured units across India. In this, Mr Walia mentions that they have doubled their growth in value terms in the last three years. He adds, “Even though our current press installation base in India is not so vast, we have a substantial value contribution and year-on-year (YoY) profitability.”

So far, Manroland Sheetfed India has installed nearly 17 presses around the country in recent years, which have taken place at some of the country’s top-ranked packaging, commercial, and book printers. Latest being the installation of a brand new 8-colour Evolution Series press at Kundli (Haryana)-based Replika Press where Mr Kern went to take part in the auspicious inaugural function immediately after wrapping up the grand opening of the new office of Manroland Sheetfed India in Delhi.

Packaging and commercial are considerably the key sectors where Manroland Sheetfed India is setting to scale-up business. “For the commercial printers, we offer the 8-colour Perfectors; while Evolution Series with in-line foiling are ideal for packaging converters. These presses are engineered in such a way to help our customers engage in jobs which any other printers using conventional presses cannot do,” mentions Mr Kern.

Publishing is yet another lucrative sector where Manroland Sheetfed India has garnered double-digit press installations. Mr Walia says many publishers who relied only on pre-owned presses earlier are now started investing in brand new 8-colour perfectors because it’s both necessary and viable for staying ahead of the cut-throat competitions in the market. He further states that 8-colour perfecting presses with advanced automation features are crucial for book publishing houses these days.

Telling about the new developments he sees in India, Mr Kern asserts, “We keep investing a lot in our Indian team, which is quite developed now. We receive such feedbacks from our customers who say they just give a phone call to the team and their after-sales services get immediately done.” Manroland Sheetfed India has a strong team of 14 highly-qualified and well-experienced engineers. The engineers have underdone rigorous trainings at the headquarters of Manroland Sheetfed GmbH at Offenbach am Main in Germany.
