At LOUPE India 2026, Aloke Hazarika, Head of Industrial Print Sales Division, and Manish Gupta, Head of Marketing, Konica Minolta, discuss the growing adoption of digital label printing, market opportunities and the company’s customer-focused approach.

Konica Minolta is witnessing strong momentum in India’s digital label printing market, driven by demand for shorter print runs, increasing SKU diversity and faster turnaround times. At LOUPE India 2026, the company is showcasing its AccurioLabel 230 and AccurioLabel 400 digital label presses, highlighting the role of digital printing in helping converters respond to changing customer requirements.

In an interview with Labels, Flexibles & More, Aloke Hazarika and Manish Gupta share their perspectives on market growth, technology adoption and the opportunities emerging for digital label printing in India.

Strong Growth in the Indian Market

Q: How do you assess the current Indian label printing market?

Aloke Hazarika: The Indian economy is growing at a healthy pace, and the demand for printing is increasing alongside it. While we continue to see strong demand in our cut-sheet printing business, the label segment has also witnessed significantly higher demand.

Several factors are driving this growth. Start-ups need labels for their products, while cosmetic and pharmaceutical brands are increasingly adopting digital printing. Pharmaceutical companies, in particular, are looking at digital solutions to reduce inventory requirements and accommodate changes in brand designs.

We believe the digital label printing market can grow at around 8% year on year over the longer term.

Q: How does the current year’s performance compare with the previous calendar year?

Aloke Hazarika: Despite global uncertainties and challenges relating to logistics, the Indian market has remained resilient. We are seeing growth of around 30% compared with the previous calendar year.

Strong domestic demand and initiatives supporting manufacturing in India are contributing to this momentum. Customer requirements are also changing, with shorter print runs becoming increasingly important. We believe this trend will continue and that digital printing will grow faster than several other printing segments.

AccurioLabel 230 and AccurioLabel 400

Q: What is Konica Minolta showcasing at LOUPE India 2026?

Konica Minolta: Our industrial printing portfolio includes the AccurioLabel 230 and AccurioLabel 400 digital label presses, alongside other solutions such as the MGI digital embellishment system and the AccurioJet KM-1e B2-format inkjet printing system.

At the exhibition, we are presenting our label printing technologies through live machine displays, printed samples and a customer success showcase. Visitors can explore the output and understand how digital printing can complement their existing production capabilities.

Service and Support as Key Differentiators

Q: With several digital label presses available in the market, what differentiates Konica Minolta?

Aloke Hazarika: One of our biggest strengths is that we do not simply sell a machine; we also provide ongoing service and support. This gives customers confidence that we remain closely connected with them before and after installation.

Konica Minolta has a strong service infrastructure in India, with approximately 15 branches, 15 warehouses and around 800 employees, including more than 350 service engineers. We also have multiple customer experience centres where customers can visit and evaluate our machines.

Our objective is not to replace conventional printing technologies. Digital printing can complement a customer’s existing setup, enabling printers to handle shorter runs and respond faster to end-customer requirements.

Looking Ahead

With shorter print runs, SKU proliferation and changing brand requirements influencing the market, digital printing is becoming an increasingly relevant option for Indian label converters.

Konica Minolta’s participation at LOUPE India 2026 reflects its focus on helping printers respond to these requirements through digital technology, backed by a nationwide service network and customer support infrastructure.

With its AccurioLabel 230 and AccurioLabel 400 presses, the company aims to support converters seeking greater flexibility, faster turnaround and opportunities to expand their digital label production capabilities.
