The company has been engaged in designing and manufacturing plastic bag-making machinery, pouch-making equipment, and reclosable packaging solutions since 1970. A part of Barry-Wehmiller, the company is very active in India, with their marketing dealer Scanvik. Our editor spoke to Mark Bampfield, Manager Asia Pacific for Hudson-Sharp at the Flexible Packaging Conference.

Mark said on the show, “We want to re-establish ourselves in India after Covid. There are a lot of potential customers and promising projects in India, and the Elite Plus conference is a perfect platform to connect with existing and new customers. We met almost all the customers at the event. The Indian market is growing, and the region has good potential.”

“We were introduced in the Indian market 25 to 26 years back. We have installed about 10 machines. Our Indian customers in Africa have also installed our machines. So overall, we have installed 25 machines.”

He said about the competition, “Customers in India have a greater selection. The Made-in-India machines are also very advanced, making them good competitors. The Indian manufacturer is making an advanced quality machine. In comparison, Hudson-Sharp has introduced more advanced technology. We have several different machines. Our machine lasts for 22 to 30 years.”

“Sustainability is the main talking point in the show. I witnessed in the show that the customers are buoyant and looking to buy from offshore. It is always nice to sell in a market where the customers are happy and open to buying advanced technology.” Bampfield Concludes.
