The company witnessed one of the most significant participation this year and organized various live demonstrations, experiential zones, and dedicated HP Indigo discovery sessions for print service providers, potential brands, designers, and design agencies.

An exclusive interview with Mr. Appadurai, Country Business Manager –Indigo & Inkjet Solutions, HP Inc talks about the collaboration with TechNova and the HP Indigo business in India.

Real partnership, real transformation, real endurance

He says, “In a fast-changing market and a world economy that’s full of surprises, the process of digital transformation in the commercial, labels and packaging printing industry shouldn’t prevent business owners from discovering the future-proof benefits of adopting a digital press. We have a team of proven experts that can guide you through the process and help you achieve the growth that HP Indigo customers are already experiencing. Behind every product and service is something more—HP’s deep loyalty to print and trusted partners like Redington and TechNova. For commercial printing solutions we, in collaboration with Redington, were present at Stall C-18—C-20 in Hall 5. For Labels & Packaging printing solutions in collaboration with TechNova, were displayed at Stall G-16, 17 & 18 in Hall 9C.  Technologies like HP Indigo should be made to empower you to achieve your greatest potential.

He says, “Earlier, we only focused on metro cities for digital businesses in India, including the commercial and packaging business. Now, we get into places which has lot of potential and getting surge for variety of print requirements. For example, our recent installations, a customer investing in a b2 press in Roorkee, a customer investing 15 – 16 crore in Jaipur. Things are changing and so is our perception towards market and the converters. Given this fact, the label market has also seen a big surge and to expand our reach there cannot be a better company than TechNova in India, which can get us to the grass-root level of the printing industry both from a packaging and label standpoint. TechNova holds a market share of over 85% for folding cartons in the plate business.”

Digital Complementing Offset

“I strongly believe that digital does not compete with an offset; rather, it always complements the offset. The printers will have a competitive advantage if they have both the technologies.”

Our question to the printers is, long runs are better to go with offset; why do you want to do short runs in an offset machine?

That’s where we say digital can take your pain away for offset and make your offset healthy.

The company which has a firm foothold in the offset industry in India that can reach out to the offset players is TechNova; they will offer our digital presses to offset printers. We have a mission to help our customers succeed. That is where I see the essence of this partnership.”

Mr Pranav Parikh, Chairman & Managing Director, TechNova Imaging Systems, said,

“We are delighted with the overwhelming response we received at Printpack 2022. The live demos and interactive AV sessions of full range of HP devices for Labels, Folding Cartons & Publishing were a huge draw. Our partnership with HP enables us to offer publishing, labels & packaging print innovation that empowers our customers with the versatility to enter new markets and exploit new opportunities.”

Mr Amit Khurana, COO, Digital & Offset Print Business, TechNova Imaging Systems, said,

“HP’s futuristic digital solutions and marketing acumen, integrated with TechNova’s innovative strategies, unparalleled service, extensive reach and 50 years of customer trust and goodwill is a formidable synergy that will provide our customers with a unified ecosystem to generate new profits.”

The Start-ups business and Digital Printing

“About 80000 startups started in last 18 months. Time is boosting startups. Out of 80000 startups, 50% is from food packaging. So, every product requires packaging. Digital packaging has transformed startup businesses hugely. It is helping startup save their money and time. They can operate from any remote place and employ local people. This way, you are doing the biggest service to the industry.”

Digital Printing and Endless Possibilities

Giving a few beautiful examples of Digital Printing, Appa says, “During Covid, Dettol decided to innovate their packaging and have a picture of ‘Covid Warrior’ instead of their logo, so they select 1000 real-time ‘Covid Warrior’ (These were the brave-hearts, who ventured out from the safe confines and served mankind at this traumatic time in whatever way they could). The idea was to give them recognition and credit for their service. Every Dettol bottle that was produced had a picture of ‘Covid Warrior’ to salute for their services towards the society. The labels were printed on our HP Indigo 20000 by one of the renowned PSP and proud owner of HP Indigo press. The total run for this campaign was planned at 4 million (40 Lakh) packs.”

“Diageo India, come up with a whisky named Godawan, a limited-edition whisky of just 13000 bottles. Each bottle was had a 100% sustainable label that was numbered and signed printed in HP Indigo.” Godawan, the Great Indian Bustard, once found all over India, is now nearing extinction and finds its last refuge in Rajasthan.” Appa concludes.
