At Plastindia 2026, Daetwyler SwissTec showcased its latest innovations in doctor blade technology aimed at improving print stability, ink transfer efficiency, and press uptime for gravure and flexible packaging converters.

Speaking to Labels Flexibles and More, Markus Resing, deputy head of marketing and sales, highlighted the company’s newest development, “The Longlife Pro doctor blade is an advanced coated doctor blade designed for high-speed rotogravure applications. It features a dual-layer coating system and the optional Rototip lamella configuration, which improves wiping consistency, reduces friction, and minimizes wear on both the blade and the cylinder. This blade is specifically designed by Daetwyler to help printers achieve clean doctoring results in gravure printing, regardless of ink type or engraving specification.”

The Longlife Pro addresses the challenges of higher speeds, variable ink systems, and inconsistent cylinder surfaces by utilizing advances in doctor blade coating technologies. Once the blade is set up, the doctoring remains clean and constant over the entire run length, providing a crucial advantage for printers.

Daetwyler also announced the integration of a UK-based analogue flexographic plate manufacturer into its operations, expanding its portfolio toward a complete solution offering that includes doctor blades, analogue plates, end seals, and accessories for flexible printing. Resing noted that India is among the company’s fastest-growing markets globally.
