Cosmo First Limited, a leading global manufacturer of specialty films and diversified polymer solutions, made a strong impact at PlastIndia this year with one of its largest-ever booths, highlighting its expanding business verticals and innovative product portfolio.

Labels Flexibles and More got an opportunity to interview Kulbhushan Malik, Global Business Head – Cosmo Films, during the exhibition.

Comprehensive Product Display Across Business Verticals

Malik said, “At the exhibition, the company showcased its flagship division, Cosmo Films, presenting an extensive range of BOPP films and specialty film solutions catering to flexible packaging, labeling, lamination, and industrial applications.”

“In a significant development, Cosmo First also highlighted its recent 50:50 joint venture with Filmax, a pioneer in the Korean BOPP industry. The partnership enables Cosmo to introduce its film portfolio and other product verticals into the Korean market, while also bringing Filmax’s specialized retort CPP film range to customers in India and other global markets. Representatives from Filmax were present at the booth, reinforcing the strategic international collaboration.”

Beyond films, the company presented offerings from its diversified business units:

  • Cosmo Plastech– Rigid packaging solutions including thermoformed containers, injection-moulded containers, barrier sheets, and specialty sheets.
  • Cosmo Consumer– Window films, privacy films, and paint protection films (PPF).
  • Cosmo Speciality Chemicals– Masterbatches, additives, adhesives, and specialty coatings.

This broad display underscored Cosmo First’s transformation into a multi-vertical polymer solutions provider.

Market Outlook and Export Growth

Commenting on market conditions, Malik added, “while recent months saw temporary demand pressure due to imports in the films segment, the situation has stabilized. With the seasonal demand cycle from January through May and easing tariff uncertainties, demand in flexible packaging is showing healthy recovery.”

“Cosmo First reported strong export growth, particularly in flexible films, supported by recent capacity expansions. The company remains one of India’s largest exporters of BOPP, CPP, and polyester films.”

Currently, the company holds an estimated 20–25% overall market share (including exports) in the BOPP segment, with a domestic market share of approximately 15–20%, making it the largest players in the Indian market by capacity.

Sustainability and Innovation Focus

A key highlight at the exhibition was the commercialization of Cosmo’s Green Graphic Films, positioned as a PVC-free alternative for graphic applications. The product received strong interest from customers seeking sustainable solutions.

Strong Engagement at the Exhibition

As a Gold Sponsor at PlastIndia, Cosmo First witnessed high footfall and strong engagement at its booth. The company conducted multiple discussions with existing and prospective customers on new product developments and customized solutions. A dedicated customer engagement event was also hosted alongside the exhibition to strengthen industry relationships.
