Jitesh Metha, Senior Director – Marketing, Label & Packaging Materials, South Asia, Avery Dennison, discusses the company’s solutions-led approach, sustainability initiatives, RFID technology, pharmaceutical applications and growing confidence in the Indian market.
At LOUPE India 2026, Avery Dennison is presenting a comprehensive portfolio of labelling and packaging solutions, with a strong emphasis on application-specific innovations, sustainability, functionality and product security.
Rather than focusing exclusively on individual products, the company has organised its exhibition space into dedicated application zones covering FMCG and retail, pharmaceuticals, durable goods, RFID and graphics.
In an interaction with Labels, Flexibles & More, Jitesh Metha, Senior Director – Marketing, Label & Packaging Materials, South Asia, Avery Dennison, shared insights into the company’s key exhibition highlights, emerging market opportunities, sustainability initiatives and its commitment to the Indian label and packaging industry.
A Solutions-Led Approach at LOUPE India 2026
Explaining the concept behind the company’s exhibition presence, Jitesh said Avery Dennison has deliberately moved beyond a conventional product-focused presentation.
The exhibition space is divided into different application segments, reflecting the company’s understanding of customer requirements. The FMCG and retail zone focuses on material minimisation and functional solutions, while the pharmaceutical zone highlights security, authentication and specialised labelling applications.
The durable goods segment features solutions for demanding applications such as tyre and battery labels. The company is also demonstrating RFID technologies, including applications in retail checkout and inventory management.
Rather than displaying standalone label samples, Avery Dennison has applied several solutions to actual product packs, allowing visitors to understand their appearance and functionality in real-world applications.
Pharmaceutical Labelling and Authentication
Pharmaceutical applications are receiving considerable attention at the exhibition, particularly given the growth of India’s pharmaceutical sector.
One key area of focus is labelling solutions for GLP-1 injection devices, which are gaining momentum in India. Jitesh highlighted the importance of selecting application-specific materials that meet relevant approval and regulatory requirements in markets such as the US and Europe.
The company is also presenting authentication and anti-counterfeiting solutions to help brands protect their products and establish product authenticity.
Jitesh explained that authentication is a broad subject, with individual brands requiring unique solutions. While Avery Dennison offers its own anti-counterfeiting technologies, it also collaborates with specialised third-party partners to develop customised solutions based on specific brand requirements.
Sustainability: Demonstrating Practical Recycling Solutions
Sustainability is another major highlight of Avery Dennison’s presence at LOUPE India 2026. The company is demonstrating practical solutions that support the recycling of packaging materials through interactive models.
One of the key demonstrations features its CleanFlake solution for PET recycling, explaining how label materials can be separated during recycling to help produce cleaner recycled PET flakes.
The company is also demonstrating solutions for HDPE bottle recycling and specialised label technologies for the liquor industry.
Jitesh particularly highlighted the company’s wash-off label solutions for glass bottles. These labels are designed to be removed during automatic bottle-washing processes, leaving the glass bottles clean and ready for reuse.
These technologies demonstrate how label design can contribute to improved packaging recyclability and reuse.
Specialised Solutions for Durable Goods and Graphics
Beyond conventional labels, Avery Dennison is highlighting specialised solutions for durable goods applications, including tyre and battery labels.
The company is also presenting its graphics portfolio, particularly paint protection films, a category attracting growing interest in India.
The exhibition reflects Avery Dennison’s broader capabilities in materials science and its focus on developing solutions across multiple application segments.
India Remains a Strategic Growth Market
Commenting on the business environment, Jitesh acknowledged that global sentiment remains challenging but expressed confidence in India’s growth prospects.
He pointed out that India is a highly cost-conscious market. While customers increasingly demand enhanced functionality and specialised features, brands and converters remain careful about the premium they are willing to pay. Balancing performance, functionality and cost is therefore essential.
The ongoing West Asia crisis has also created pressure through increasing costs of petroleum-linked raw materials. Avery Dennison is making efforts to absorb these increases wherever possible, although some cost increases may eventually need to be passed on to the market.
Expanding Manufacturing and Distribution Infrastructure
Reinforcing its commitment to India, Avery Dennison continues to invest in strengthening its local infrastructure.
Jitesh highlighted that the company established an RFID manufacturing facility in Pune last year. More recently, it expanded its Bengaluru distribution centre to nearly twice its previous capacity at a new location.
These investments reflect the company’s focus on strengthening its manufacturing and distribution capabilities to serve customers across the region.
Building Industry Capabilities Through Training and Collaboration
Avery Dennison is also supporting industry development through collaborative training initiatives.
Discussing the training centre in Pune, Jitesh described it as an industry-wide initiative in which several technology providers have come together to contribute equipment, expertise and resources.
Gallus has installed its printing machine, while other industry partners have contributed equipment and solutions related to inks, anilox technology and other aspects of label production.
The objective is to create an educational platform where converters can receive practical training and develop a better understanding of label printing technologies.
In addition to the training centre, Avery Dennison established InsideX, its brand experience centre at the same campus. The facility allows brand owners to explore different labelling and packaging possibilities and understand how innovative solutions can enhance their brands.
Jitesh also indicated that the company sees opportunities to collaborate with academic institutions in the future to educate students and professionals entering the packaging industry.
Innovation Driven by Customer Insights
Discussing Avery Dennison’s innovation strategy, Jitesh emphasised the importance of continuously understanding customer challenges.
The company’s teams regularly engage with brand owners and converters to identify their operational difficulties, application requirements and emerging needs. These insights form the foundation for developing new solutions.
According to him, innovation is not simply about introducing new products at exhibitions. It is about identifying genuine market challenges and developing solutions that address them as and when the need arises.
Looking Ahead
Avery Dennison’s participation at LOUPE India 2026 highlights its commitment to application-driven innovation, sustainability, customer collaboration and industry development.
With investments in manufacturing, distribution, training and customer experience facilities, the company continues to strengthen its presence in India while focusing on solutions that address the evolving requirements of brands, converters and packaging professionals.
