Established in 1998, Saicom Systems, Mumbai, offers tailor-made Flexo presses as per the customer’s requirement. Saicom has tied up Ruiting Machinery Co.Ltd. (China) as their technology partner for selling, installing and servicing flexo presses in India. Labels Flexibles and More spoke to Satish Wakchaure, CEO and owner of Saicom Systems, about the engineering of the flexo presses and UV LED curing systems and his technology tie-ups.
Satish Wakchaure completed his Bachelor of Computer Science BCS (Software) from Pune University and his DBM and MBA from Wellingkar Mumbai. He has worked with industry pioneers like Hewlett Packard, Olivetti, and Interlabels Sato Barcode. He also acquired knowledge of developing smart card semiconductor technology, which is used in ticket vending machines at railways and petrol pumps.
Speaking about their SaiFlexo presses, Satish said, “Saicom System makes machinery as per label printers’ requirements and with assembling the best technology—every machine is designed as per the printer’s input information. There are no standard machines, but everything is customised, everything is tailor-made, and customer consideration is 100%.”
Saicom Systems is presently having three division.

“Saicom Systems has tied up with Ruiting Machinery Co.Ltd.(China), an export house for making customised machinery for the printing packaging industry in India. All the presses are developed at the Ruiting Machinery factory, and customers can also visit their factory China check live demo. After the press is imported to India, Saicom Systems installs it at the production site. Later, after successful trials and commissioning of the machine, it is handed over to the end user. The sales service support is offered for the machine’s entire lifetime at a nominal cost. The customer has full access to Saicom Systems and Ruiting Machinery Co.Ltd. for any service support query, domestically and internationally.”
Talking about the SaiLED, he said, “SaiLED is a UV LED curing system developed tailor-made for Label printers on Flexo press with Seoul Semiconductor Korea original LED chip and unique user-friendly P.L.C. program along with top quality electronically controlled water chiller synchronized with LED curing.”
“SaiLED is a state-of-the-art LED curing designed with the best LED diodes and Surface Mounted Technology (SMT). The LED diodes, which are a minimum of 30 watts/cm2, give a heavy dose of ultraviolet intensity to cure ink at wavelengths of 385nm, 395nm, and 405nm. The LED placement and packaging design of the LED chip set makes it a unique LED. A curing product that cures all difficult LED inks, varnishes and adhesive easily at 150 m/min speed, unlike other LED curing only curing basic CMYK ink or a few special colour inks but not curing the thicker varnishes and adhesive for cold stamping and lamination.”
Elaborating on the decision to manufacture LED curing and Flexo Press, he said, “We understand LED curing is an excellent technology; hence, in 2019, we bought an LED curing system from a company in Delhi for our narrow web flexo press, but it developed technical issues in 3 months. The sellers in India sell low-standard LED curing systems, whose performance is not as desired. The system faces a technical glitch when the warranty finishes and the Label printer feels cheated. Due to this, Printers are hesitant to buy LED curing systems. That is when we decided to enter the Flexo and LED systems manufacturing business.”
“Our team consists of software and electronic engineers who are experienced with higher-end electronics and programming. Our tailor-made LED curing system chips are acquired from Seoul Semiconductor Co.Ltd., South Korea; the system is developed with proper HMI and PLC. We have been using the same LED curring for our Flexo press for the last three years. Unlike the low-capacity LED curing, our LED does not require UV mercury for curing varnishes and adhesives.”

“The unique thing in SaiFlexo + SaiLED Servo and mechanical Presses is we give Chill drums, LED curing, which allows us to print 12-micron PET films, 35-micron Shrink PVC, 60-micron IML label quickly at speed between 80-150 meters/min. Our demo centre is in Bhiwandi, Mumbai; anyone can see the machine. Many label printers have done small printing jobs to check the printing quality.”

“The ROI on our SaiFlexo + SaiLED is hardly three years. We talk about ₹ 2.50 per sq. meter machine cost and ₹ 0.80 – ₹ 1.00 per sq. meter electricity power. It means the Label printer has to pay ₹ 3.50 – ₹ 4 per sq. meter.” concludes Satish.
