Lower Parel-based pre-press and digital print specialist JD Graphics has always invested in high-end technology to be ahead of the competition. Continuing with this philosophy, JD Graphics has installed a brand new MGI JETvarnish 3D One and Accurioshine 101 to cater to the ever-growing print segment.

The MGI press was commissioned in early January and is operated from the JD Graphic’s plant in Shah and Nahar Industrial Estate under the management of Jeevan Mohandas and Druman Mohandas. Recently, Omkar Mohandas, the son of Druman Mohandas, has also joined the family’s printing business.

“As the demand for post-print value addition is steadily growing, the MGI machine intends to help adapt to the ongoing digital transition. Likewise, it will help boost productivity and reduce wastage in post-print operations. JD Graphics plans to use the MGI press to add extra decorative value to items like booklets, brochures, business cards, invitation cards, wedding cards, envelopes, book covers, cartons, labels, and posters.” says Jeevan Mohandas of JD Graphics

“After acquiring MGI, our digital print production part is increased substantially. Our production in HP Indigo press is also increased. With MGI we can now have more variation in print. Nowadays, customers do not order huge quantities; they order smaller quantities like 200 to 500 copies that need to be delivered quickly, but not comprising the quality. Previously, UV and foiling were done in screen printing machines, but since the run length is going down, we need to have a digital solution for a short-run job for doing UV and foiling. So we got MGI. With this digital press, the time is reduced to just 2 hours compared to 2 days of the screen printing process.” Adds Jeevan.

The company has a Kodak CtP processor for supplying plates to offset printers in its pre-press section. It has digital presses in its pressroom – an HP Indigo 5600 and a Konica Minolta 3080. HP Indigo 5600 is used to print on 400 gms substrates such as MetPET, plastic, and color paper. And in the post-print section, it has added the MGI JETvarnish 3D One.

For two years, JD Graphics sought a digital embellishment solution. In addition to the cutting-edge innovation of the MGI, it was the solid support of the Konica Minolta India team that was a major game-changer. They were also looking at our competition, but the technology and our service clinched the deal in favor of MGI, Konica Minolta’s Navdeep Dadwal.

“Konica Minolta India acts as a facilitator and collaborates printers with print buyers to take the business forward. Whether it’s the KM1 press, the MGI press, or the label presses, Konica Minolta aims to help printers grow their business. The Konica Minolta team also helps JD Graphics meet customers who require embellishment solutions.” says Vijay Kamat of Konica Minolta

“Lower Parel is a hub of printing. There are all kinds of printers in the locality like offset, digital, screen etc. Customer from all over the city comes here to accomplish their printing needs. Now with MGI, JD graphics can act as One-Stop-Shop in giving services to clients.” concludes Vijay.
