Aiming to diversify business in the pharmaceutical and food sector, Icon Prints plans a significant expansion.
Based in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, Icon Prints is a leading manufacturer and supplier of self-adhesive labels in western India. Their state-of-the-art production facility comprises new-generation machines, including the Gallus EM280 label printing press. Recently the company booked multiple equipments, including Prati’s Sun 450 High-speed slitter and rewinder machine from Royal Coat.
The new Prati slitting equipment will support the increased volume production with a 450mm web width. The Sun 450 enables winding, slitting and rewinding of a wide range of applications, including pressure-sensitive labels, unsupported paper, cardboard and plastic substrates.
Gautam Suresh Seth, managing director for Icon Prints, said, ‘A high-quality and precision Slitter Rewinder and Inspection System is a pre-mandate for the pharmaceutical sector. We have bought Sun 450 slitter rewinder machine; Nikka inspection system and other equipment. We also plan to buy a new flexo press to get into unsupported labels businesses like Shrink Sleeves. We aim to cater to the food and beverage industry, where we see substantial growth in the coming years. We have done all the required quality and standard certification for diversification.’
Speaking about their choice of Prati, he added, ‘We explored different brands of slitter rewinder. There were pros and cons to many of the machines, but we found Prati a more stable machine. We took advice from industry experts and veterans who recommended purchasing Prati if we wanted a most stable machine with less technical support.’
An important added value of the machine offered in general by the use of the WIZARM is met when processing multiple narrow lanes: when the machine has reached the counting end, the cut lanes will remain blocked inside the WIZARM, which will be then placed directly on the rewinding shaft, so the lanes will be already positioned to be fastened.
This is an important advantage in terms of time spare: the operator will just have to fasten them without looking for the right position.
The Sun 450 is also equipped with a tension-controlled program called VARYCONTROL which is suitable not only for PSL, but also for unsupported film and clear-on-clear labels.
It has 3 different tension programs:
– PSL: tension constant on the shaft
– UNSUPPORTED MATERIALS taper tension, constant on the material.
– CLEAR-ON-CLEAR: combination of the above-mentioned programs to rewind Clear-on-clear labels with glue leakage and labels moving on the liner.
The machine is fully programmed mechanically and electronically for all upgrades that could be bought after the machine’s purchase.
