Eugen Packaging expands its Labels printing operations

Mr.Prashant Deshpande, Managing Director of Eugen Printing and Packaging, spoke about its recent expansion and growth plans.

He said, ” I started the label printing business in 2016 after acquiring a Multitech label printing press machine. Recently, we added Gallus EM280 Label Press at our production plant. Initially, when we started the business, there were too many problems, but now everything is settled. We have reputed customers like Ferrero Rocher, Dabur, etc. Next year we are planning for a more significant expansion and will acquire a third Label Printing machine. This year we will be installing an inspection machine from AVT.”

Speaking on the demand change, he added, “During Covid, there was a huge demand for pharma labels. At that period, we didn’t know the correct number of hand sanitizer labels we printed; the number was so large. Only for a few days, our factory was closed. In the Pune region, the demand for digital labels is not high, so currently, we are not evaluating digital printing options.”

Talking about the rising raw material prices, he added, “The raw material price is rising, and it is challenging to sustain in the business. The raw material price increased by almost 50%. In many places, we have compromised the cost and reduced our margin, as the brands were not ready for the price hike. Running a unit is now getting complicated, but we are balancing everything. Though, few brands have transferred the price hike to the consumer. The shortage of materials is a big problem, and the price increase is an add-on issue.

“We have supported many customers during Covid. The brands required a vendor to support them during critical lock-down phase, so many customers approached us during that period. Those customers are continuing with us, even after Covid.” Said Sachin Shegaonkar, Business Development Manager at Eugen packaging.

“We are into self-adhesive labels but plan to enter into flexible packaging. we are exploring the flexible package business.” Concludes Deshpande.
