Performance review of Saicom System Flexo press after six months of operating.
Established in 1996, Bartech Data Systems Pvt. Ltd. is an eminent player in Auto Identification products like Barcode printers, Software, Labels and consumable PAN India Level. The company has developed a tailor-made track-n-trace ERP system for pharmaceutical and food industry production.
The company has many MNC clientele for Labels, all types of Films and Tags. Recently, they purchased Flexo Press from Saicom Systems with the application of LED curing.
Talking more about the installation, Mr.Sandeep Sawant, Director of Bartech Data Systems, said, “In June 2023, we installed SaiFlexo press with SaiLED curing from Saicom Systems (Mumbai), The five colour press has the Main Servo infeed outfeed motor and print unit mechanical setting. The fully loaded Press has Chill drums, Cold stamping unit, Turn bar, and LED curing. We bought the LED curing at 50% price of only ₹ 67 Lakhs. We have already been operating a Multitech flexo press with GEW UV six colour for four years with the main servo and print unit mechanically operated and a few more presses.
Budget Press with All Essential Applications
‘We have been associated with Saicom Systems for ten years and were looking for Flexo press, but we had a meagre budget of ₹ 70 lakhs. We also wanted applications like Chill drums and low heat intensity curing systems like LED in a flexo press; we knew Saicom Systems had been using LED for their in-house label printing for four years. After sufficient trials on various film materials on the LED system, I finally decided to go for the SaiFlexo + SaiLED combination.’
Performance that matches European Standard Presses
With the installed SaiFlexo press, we have much expectations from the Main Servo with a mechanical gear-driven Press. But it was an astonishing experience with a Full Flower Petal system, Chill drums, perfect tension controllers and LED curing. It prints 12 Micron PET at 100 metres speed and stretchable film and In Mould Label IML at 90 meters/min speed with good registration. This performance is usually expected from Double Servo Auto Registration Presses.
‘Due to the low price of the Press, we pay 50% less in EMIs and spend only ₹ 2.50 per sq. meter for the Press and ₹ 0.80/per sq. meter for Electricity Power bills due to LED curing. The SaiLED curing is fabulous. It has a very high dose of UV intensity curing ink at high speed. Cold Stamping and Lamination adhesive are performed at a magnificent speed of 100 meters/minute.
‘We print 12 microns of PET Film, 35 microns of PVC film, Paper and Film Label Stock, 350 gsm Paper Tag, 50 gsm Paper, etc., and a full range of media material. LED is an excellent technology with the Chill drum. The material’s back and top sides remain cool due to low-temperature LED curing. Because of good press speed, we have increased productivity by 25% more than our other Press with Mercury UV curing.’
‘Today, profit margins are shrinking, and competition is immense; the price of labels, tags, or sleeves will fetch the same rate whether you use low- or high-price flexo press. The label printers, mainly the new generation Label printers that opt for Tower Model Flexo, old Flexo and flatbed label press users, should go for a Press of this budget below ₹ 70 lakhs with only power-saving LED,’ concludes Sawant.
