Khetika, one of India’s leading clean food brands, today announced the inauguration of its Pesticide-Free (IPM) Spices Manufacturing Plant and Advanced Quality Testing Laboratory in Unjha, Gujarat. The milestone marks a significant step in the company’s mission to build a globally trusted Indian food brand by strengthening quality, transparency, and traceability across the food value chain.
In line with this mission, Khetika’s new manufacturing facility and testing laboratory have been established to ensure that quality and safety are built into every stage of the journey, from farm to finished product.
Established with an investment of INR 10 crore, Khetika’s integrated facility with a dedicated testing laboratory, strengthening the company’s capabilities to deliver high-quality, pesticide-free spices at scale. Equipped with an initial production capacity of 500 MT with plans to scale it further in future, the manufacturing plant is designed to meet stringent global food safety and quality standards, processing spices sourced through Khetika’s farmer partnerships under robust quality control systems. As part of its global ambitions, Khetika is targeting key international markets including the US, Europe, and the Middle East, with exports expected to account for a growing share of the facility’s production over time.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Prithwi Singh, Co-founder & CEO, Khetika, said: “India is the world’s largest spice exporter, yet we are yet to see an Indian consumer spice brand emerge as a global leader. At Khetika, we see a significant opportunity to build a brand that earns trust in India and across the world.
Our new Pesticide-Free (IPM) Spices Manufacturing Plant and Advanced Quality Testing Lab are important steps towards this ambition. While the manufacturing facility strengthens our ability to meet global standards of quality and safety, our journey towards pesticide-free spices begins at the farm through Khetika SAATHI programme, where we work with farmers to adopt Integrated Pest Management practices.
India also needs stronger testing infrastructure to ensure that quality is not compromised at any stage of the value chain. Our advanced lab is designed to bring greater rigour, transparency and assurance to this journey.
From farm to testing to manufacturing, we are building the capabilities to make Khetika a truly global Indian food brand.”
Expected to reach 100% capacity utilization within first year of operations, the integrated facility will support testing and quality assurance throughout the product lifecycle, including raw material approval, process controls, batch testing, finished product verification, pesticide residue analysis, microbiological testing, chemical analysis, nutritional testing, contaminant assessment, shelf-life studies, packaging evaluation, and water quality testing.
The facilities build upon the company’s Khetika SAATHI programme, through which farmers are supported in adopting Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to reduce pesticide dependency at the farm level. Together, the farming programme, testing laboratory, and manufacturing plant create an integrated ecosystem focused on delivering cleaner, safer, and more transparent food products.
With the inauguration of the Pesticide-Free Spices Manufacturing Plant and Advanced Quality Testing Lab, Khetika takes another important step towards building a cleaner food system and establishing a globally recognized Indian brand rooted in purity, trust, and quality.
