Meech Shavotech Pvt. Ltd (Hall 4H-FP, Stand E-22) will be presenting its latest technological developments to support smooth production for the plastics industry at PLASTINDIA 2023 (1st – 5th February 2023, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India). Its well-established static control and web cleaning products will be on display, including the highly advanced 994CG IML generator and the innovative Hyperion SmartControl.

“PLASTINDIA presents an ideal opportunity to highlight the role that Meech Shavotech plays within the plastics sector, for a range of applications such as in-mould labelling (IML), winding and extrusion.” says Rushil Shah, General Manager at Meech Shavotech Pvt. Ltd.

The 994CG, a compact in-mould labelling (IML) generator is designed to meet the greater demands of the IML sector. The 994CG is a miniature generator with four 20kV outlets, making it the most powerful of its kind on the market.

“The global IML market looks set to thrive over the coming years, with a reduction in labelling costs being a major contributor to this projected growth,” comments David Rogers, Technical Director at Meech International. “The IML procedure eliminates the need for separate post-decoration, which leads to a reduction in additional labour and raw material costs.”

As customer feedback indicates that 24V DC power is becoming the preferred supply voltage for ancillary equipment on machinery, Meech has developed an IML generator that reduces power consumption and has a small footprint, with dimensions of only 150 (L) x 38 (W) x 40 (H) mm, allowing easy installation.

David goes on to explain how the 994CG’s features will prove ideal especially for OEMs and end-users whose working environments include robot arms and that have traditionally worked with large remote generators with mains voltage supply. “Our system removes the need to root high voltage cables next to signal wires and low voltage cables. Fitting a 994CG at the end of a robot arm removes all the issues experienced when using remote static generation.”

He continues: “With robot installations, space is limited and weight needs to be minimal to allow the machine to move at optimum speeds. The 994CG’s size and light weight, as well as its sturdy mounting points and high resistance to vibration, ensure that the robot arm’s dexterity is not affected.”

Adding further to the 994CG’s versatility is the ability to connect four six-headed Hydra miniaturised IML pinning systems directly to the compact generator, allowing it to be configured for multiple cavity applications.

The 994CG features adjustable output voltage, which can be programmed remotely with a robot PLC, an optional external set point control or via Meech’s Hyperion Bar Master remote programmer.

The remote on/off and output voltage can be activated, adjusted and monitored. The external set point control option allows a voltage adjuster to be simply installed into the system via a break-in connector, an ideal solution where upgrades to remote generator systems are required. Finally, the Bar Master allows the operator to view and adjust the functionality in real time. The availability of a visual display that indicates the 994CG’s operation, voltage levels and short circuit warnings, is important when setting up or diagnosing run time issues.

“With the 994CG, we are delivering reduced power consumption, easier installations and improved safety compliance, but most importantly we are addressing the needs of the IML market,” concludes David. “Our next step is to convey to members of the plastics and packaging industries how this system can help improve their business. We are confident it will generate significant interest in our overall offering.”

Meech’s long-standing range of Hyperion products will also be on display, including Hyperion static bars 924IPS and 960IPS, which are suited to short and medium-range applications respectively. The 960IPS – Meech’s latest mid-range, Pulsed DC Ionising Bar – possesses extremely powerful ionisation of up to 15kV and provides 50% greater maximum working distance than its popular predecessor, the 929IPS ionising bar. Versatile and simple to install, the 960IPS has fully adjustable voltage, frequency and balance, making it ideal for use within a wide range of applications.

Rushil adds: “The Hyperion 960IPS, while more advanced in its ionisation and working distance than the 929IPS ionising bar, retains all the key features that made the 929IPS such a success. Meech’s Ion Current Monitoring technology is incorporated, ensuring performance is maintained and that local and remote alerts signal when the bar needs to be cleaned.”

All of Meech’s Hyperion bars can be controlled via the Hyperion SmartControl Touch – an automation device designed for advanced supervision of the Hyperion range of ionising bars. SmartControl gives operators access to static bar performance information on a fixed or remote device and enables them to adjust the operating settings as required to achieve maximum productivity and maximum quality of output.

“With SmartControl, connected devices can be altered quickly and easily,” continues Rushil. “Remote monitoring and control through mobile devices allows operators to make alterations and adjustment to up to six static control devices, wherever they are. This new Hyperion product has been designed following extensive research and feedback from our customers, who continue play a vital role in the development of our new technologies.”

“Whether it’s helping to ensure consistent product quality or tackle issues related to contamination and machinery problems, the Meech stand will host an array of solutions designed to optimise production flow for the plastics and rubber industry. We look forward to welcoming visitors to our stand and demonstrate to them our full product offering and services.” Rushil concludes.
